Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e SM-T720
The Galaxy Tab S5e looks a lot like the Galaxy Tab S4. However, while the latter is currently Samsung’s flagship tablet, the Tab S5e is significantly cheaper at nearly 400 Euros (~$448). The midrange tablet is about 20% lighter too. Samsung has not skimped on hardware to save on costs though, which could make the Tab S5e a better choice for some people than its more expensive sibling.

The Galaxy Tab S5e is a gem in the market if you don’t want to spend a lot on a tablet. It is also a great alternative to a laptop, if paired with a keyboard and the Samsung DeX offers a PC-like environment. Overall, it’s the ideal Android tablet designed for watching movies, browsing and basic gaming. Priced at Rs. 24,999*, the S5e has a decent AMOLED display, excellent build quality and good speakers. It is perfectly tuned to redefine the entertainment space. The Tab S5e’s slim factor and long-lasting battery makes it the perfect travel companion. As long as you don’t use the Tab S5e for a lot of gaming, you’ll be content with its performance.

While tablets aren’t as popular as they used to be, if you’re in the market for one the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is a great option for both business or home use.

Get the fundamentals of Samsung's top-end S6 tablet but for hundreds of pounds less and minus the stylus support. The screen and speakers and great, as is battery life, with weaknesses few and far between. The lack of 3.5mm jack irks, while we prefer the games and apps library of iPad OS, but that's about all that counts against this Samsung.

In the end, the only thing we liked about the Tab S5e was how good it was for multimedia consumption. If you like watching movies and TV shows while on the move or even when just lying on your couch and don't want to disturb everyone with the TV then this is an excellent option for that. However, we can't really recommend it for anything else.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is what I’ve been wanting: a mid-priced model with some higher-end touches. You don’t have to sell your laptop to justify the expense but it absolutely isn’t a toy intended to keep the kids quiet.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is probably one of the most interesting tablets launched by Samsung. The tablet is the slimmest and lightest we have seen so far and the display looks crisp in nature. The in-built Samsung DeX works fine, though it is not yet ready to replace your laptop. The speaker performance is quite excellent and the software experience is smooth as well. The performance is one area of the tablet, so don’t expect too much from it. That said, the tablet still makes sense if you are one of those who like to consume lots of content on a large screen.

Really the only aspect that is a bit disappointing is the camera. Truly, it’s awful. It’s just fine for video conferencing on apps like Google Duo, but for taking photos, your smartphone lens smeared in fingerprint grease will still do a better job. This is spud cam, and there’s no doubts about it, but if you’re serious about taking photos that are worth taking, you won’t be using a tablet anyway.

The Galaxy Tab S5e has a long list of impressive features. It is light-weight with an excellent display and speakers, which are crucial in a tablet. The Samsung Dex support means you can connect this to a bigger screen, get mouse support for better productivity. The keyboard is useful for quick notes and on-the-go usage. The battery life is excellent.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S range has so far been the tablet equivalent of the flagship S-series for smartphones. This meant having the best hardware an Android tablet could have, but that made the prices of previous models higher than what you'd pay for a similar Apple iPad model. So while this new ‘e' approach might be surprising to some, it actually makes a lot of sense to us.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 5e is a great tablet for consuming content thanks to its beautiful display. It has good battery life, good audio output, is well built and has a slim profile. However, the chipset under the hood isn’t a match for the A12 Bionic running on the iPad Air and the display doesn't support HDR to consume Netflix content. Its performance as a tablet is good and can multitask well along with running any app or game you throw at it. DeX is interesting and does give the device a laptop-like feel. However, it isn’t perfect and stutters when too many apps are open.

In the Android ecosystem, the Galaxy Tab S5e is the only tablet that actually bridges the gap between a smartphone and a notebook. There is little in this premium tablet that you will not appreciate. However, competitor Apple’s iPad is also set to get a lot more interesting with the upcoming iPadOS. If you are an avid Apple user, you might not have a real reason to switch.

The Galaxy Tab S5e is one of the better Android tablets out there in the market. You can trust Samsung to make a gorgeous display that will beg you to watch movies or play games. As a media device, the Tab S5e is pretty fantastic. As a productivity device, I'm not quite sure. The Snapdragon 670 chipset works well as long as you keep your work limited to Docs or PowerPoint or general web browsing. If you're looking for a smooth yet performance-heavy tablet, you will find something better in an entry-level iPad which also comes at a lower price point of around Rs 26,000.

Samsung’s chosen it hardware wisely, you get 10.5-inch WQXGA Super AMOLED display, clear sound with the AKG speakers, 64 GB of storage (expandable to 512 GB) and the flexibility of DeX, which makes it almost as useful as a desktop when needed (Book Cover Keyboard is a must + a Bluetooth mouse is a good addition). It may fall a bit short on the processing power with a 670 SoC and 4 GB RAM, but it chugs along fine for most day to day tasks and casual games. In short, there's really nothing like it in the market at this price point. This makes it a great tablet option to go in for if you have a spare Rs 39,999 to splurge on a device with a bigger display, which will mainly be used for watching Netflix and if you buy the keyboard, some office work and internet browsing as well.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is surely one of the slimmest tablets available in the market at present. The premium design coupled with AMOLED display and quad speakers will provide an immersive viewing experience. The performance seems to be just fine and Samsung DeX looks promising. As we suspected, the Galaxy Tab S5e is an excellent Android slate and one of the best tablets around. Apple's iPads are the only real competition. Samsung has brought the excellent screen from the Tab S4 into a thinner and lighter frame, which also has a preferable metal build. There's also excellent speakers and a fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button. We'd say getting the 6/128GB model is going to be worth it since it's not much more expensive than the base model. There are only really two let downs here and that's the lack of a headphone jack and the processor isn't a powerhouse. However, for the enterainment devices it's pitched as, the Tab S5e is perfectly smooth. Only intensive gaming or mutli-tasking will slow it down. The headphone jack situation is partially solved by the included dongle, or you can use USB-C or wireless headphones.

The Galaxy Tab S5e tries to fit itself into a sweet spot. Customers who couldn’t justify paying $650 for the Galaxy Tab S4 might take a look at this tablet and feel that it’s better value for money at $400. You’re getting the same exceptional Super AMOLED display in a device that’s well built and extremely comfortable to live with. Sure, the performance might not be comparable, but does that really matter if you’re not looking for a notebook replacement? It’s not like the Galaxy Tab S4 could replace your notebook in the first place.

Hands-on article by Jagadisa Rajarathnam
The Galaxy Tab S5e is the latest flagship tablet from Samsung. The tablet is specifically catered for those who are looking for the ultimate Android tablet. The ‘e’ in the S5e stand for essential according to Samsung. For a start, it comes with a new metal unibody design just like the Galaxy phone lineup. The tablet weighs surprisingly light for a tablet in this range. It is even lighter than the Apple iPad Pro. The bezels are also very thin, even thinner than the Galaxy Tab A10 2019. At 81.6 % screen to body ratio, most of the front part is just display. The front facing buttons from previous generations are now gone. It comes with a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1,600 x 2,560 pixels. The screen is what everyone wants in a device this size. Watching movies and playing games gives an experience that not many Android tablets can give.
The Galaxy Tab S5e has extremely high performance hardware. There is a Qualcomm SD670 processor paired with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. The cheaper version comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. The memory can be expanded by up to 512 GB by inserting a micro SD card. The specs are good enough for higher performance applications, gaming and multitasking. However, something about the non-flagship processor makes it seem like the Tab S5e is a light version of a greater Tab S5 or even a Tab S5 Plus. At the back, there is a 13 MP camera capable of shooting videos at 4K and at the front there is a 8 MP camera capable of shooting videos at Full HD resolution. The cameras aren’t that great especially if compared to the ones in smartphones today. Samsung could have at least included the dual camera setup that it even puts in its cheaper Galaxy A phones.
There are four speakers around this tablet just like the Huawei MediaPad M3. The speakers are tuned by AKG/HARMAN and they produce some really good sound for media playback. The only downside to this is that with all the speakers occupying the space, Samsung has removed the earphones jack. This might be bad news for audiophiles who already have expensive headphones but for those that have adapted wireless solutions, the Tab S5e has Bluetooth 5.0 for better connectivity. The tablet also comes with a side mounted fingerprint scanner and a massive 7,040 mAh battery that supports fast charging via the USB 3.1 Type C port. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is the perfect tablet for users who watch movies and do some light work on their tablets. It even supports gaming at reasonable high graphics. This tablet might not be the laptop replacement that some are looking for but it definitely is close to it.
Qualcomm Adreno 616: Integrated (in the Snapdragon 710) graphics card based on the Adreno 600 architecture. According to Qualcomm up to 30% faster than the previous generation (Adreno 512 in the Snapdragon 660). Supports DirectX11_1, Vulkan 1.0, OpenCL 2.0, OpenGL ES 3.2.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

This is a standard display format for tablet computers or small convertibles. You see more on the screen than on a smartphone but you can't use big resolutions well. On the other hand, mobility is not a problem.
