The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Plus is easily one of the best Android tablets you can buy, complicated only by the fact that Tab S9 Ultra takes the top spot. It’s both well-built and is a nippy performer, and it’s packed with software tweaks such as Samsung DeX, that improve its flexibility over regular Android tablets. Ultimately, the Galaxy Tab S9 Plus is a great choice if your budget can’t quite stretch to the Ultra. The cutbacks are minor and you’re still getting an awful lot of tablet for your money – best of all, it’s significantly cheaper than the base 12.9in M2 iPad Pro, comes with more storage and a stylus included in the box.

The kind of performance I'm now seeing from the Galaxy S9+ means it'll easily last a few days on a single charge if your use of the handset is quite minimalistic; I spent about a day using it for photography from 100% charge and a couple days later it's still on 43%. Finally the recommendation of the Galaxy S9 will be based on which market you are in and which variant you’ll be able to purchase. The Snapdragon 845 variant in the US, China and Japan is a healthy upgrade over its predecessors and I don’t really have much to say against it as a phone, besides the camera exposure issues. Here Samsung iterated and perfected over the S8, and whether the S9 is worth to you as an upgrade is something you’ll need to decide based on its individual parts, because as a package, the Snapdragon S9s don’t disappoint.

Overall the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is a good upgrade to the Galaxy S8+. Even though it has the same display, it has slightly smaller bottom bezels, packs a faster processor with 6GB RAM, comes with a better dual-aperture and telephoto rear cameras, which is a huge improvement compared to the S8+, stereo speakers and finally perfect placement of the fingerprint sensor. Samsung finally offers a 256GB version for those who need it. It has the same old front camera and Bixby is still not up to the mark compared to Google Assistant, when it comes to showing the info you need. The camera quality is still not up to the mark when compared to the Pixel 2 series or the iPhone X, especially in low-light, since Pixel 2 images offer better shadow and highlight and portraits are obviously better in Pixel 2.

So currently I'm testing the Samsung Galaxy S9+ for our full review - which will be published soon - while testing the battery I've noticed some rather odd performance issues. Just a quick personal observation. Samsung is finally learning to play the crowd with the Galaxy S9. Instead of just throwing new features, they're making sure things work better, and play better with each other. I really liked that small little tidbit about the Lilac Purple color not being some random afterthought and instead is in the spirit of Pantone's Color of the Year. Like we said earlier, potentially the most significant upgrades the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ bring are in the camera department - super-slow mo recording at 960fps, dual aperture capability on the rear camera sensor, which is capable of shooting at f/2.4 when there’s plenty of light, but can switch to f/1.5 when the phone detects low-light conditions. This is supplemented by a secondary 12-megapixel sensor on the Galaxy S9+ for a dual rear camera setup. Needless to say, the time we spent with the Galaxy S9 duo on Sunday wasn’t enough to make any definite comments on their camera capability, and we look forward to testing them out in detail soon.
