After releasing a video showing the Retroid Pocket 6 with the Retroid Dual Screen Add-on in use, YouTuber Chris Covers, who works for Retroid, has released another video of the new Android handheld, but this time, playing a PC game.
The ability to emulate PC games is a feature many buyers consider when purchasing an Android handheld thanks to apps such as GameHub and Winlator. The Retroid Pocket 5 (currently available for $213 on Amazon) was a capable handheld in this area, so it is no surprise that its successor can also do the same.
In the video, the Retroid Pocket 6 is shown emulating the 2009 action video game Batman: Arkham Asylum. During gameplay, we can see the Retroid Pocket 6 mostly maintains a stable frame rate of 60fps. In the comments, Chris reveals that the game is running at 720p and that this version of the handheld has 8GB of RAM.
In addition to the PC gameplay, Chris Covers also released a few videos showing the handheld emulating Nintendo Wii U games such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8, and Mario 3D World. While the video of Breath of the Wild shows the handheld struggling, Chris revealed in the comments that he eventually got it to play at a constant 30fps. However, the other games are shown running well in their respective videos.
The Retroid Pocket 6 is an Android-powered gaming handheld with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor paired with 8GB or 12GB of RAM. It is available with 128GB or 256GB of storage, and owners can add more storage via a MicroSD card slot.
The Pocket 6 features Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and a 6,000mAh battery capacity with support for 27W fast charging. It also has an audio jack and a USB-C port with DisplayPort support (4K at 60Hz).
Retroid is currently accepting a second batch of pre-orders ahead of planned shipping in March. Pricing begins at $229 for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage, while the 12GB +256GB version is priced at $279. Buyers will be able to choose from five different colors as well as whether they want the handheld with its D-Pad at the top or bottom.
