Last October, Retroid announced a permanent price cut for a few of its handhelds, including the Retroid Pocket 5. Originally priced at $219, the Pocket 5 now sells for $199 on Retroid's website.
Unfortunately, the downward price review of the device wasn't reflected on Retroid's Amazon storefront, where the Pocket 5 has a list price of $259. However, for a limited time, interested buyers can now grab the Pocket 5 for significantly less.
Amazon currently has the Retroid Pocket 5 on sale for $233.10, 10% off its list price of $259. However, if you grab a coupon by ticking the coupon price box as shown in the image below, you get to buy it for $213, as it knocks off an additional $20, which is a far better deal than purchasing it directly from Retroid's website, where it costs $224 ($25 shipping included for those who reside in the US).
The Retroid Pocket 5 already has two successors in the form of the Retroid Pocket G2 and the Retroid Pocket 6, but it is still a very capable Android handheld with a gorgeous OLED display and the ability to emulate several consoles, including PS2 games at up to 2.5x resolution. However, it is not without its shortcomings, such as struggling with emulating high-end PS2 games, Wii U games, and Nintendo Switch games. The buttons are also loud, and there are complaints about the placement of its left joystick.
The Pocket 5 has a 5.5-inch AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 865 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of expandable storage. Powered by Android 13, it features a cooling fan, a 5,000mAh battery with support for 27W fast charging, Bluetooth 5.1, and Wi-Fi 6. It can also be connected to an external display.
