Ahead of the shipping of the Retroid Pocket 6, which is confirmed to begin on January 15, Retroid has been posting videos showing the Android handheld in action. In some of the recent videos, the handheld is shown in use with Retroid's Dual screen Add-on accessory.
The Retroid Dual Screen Add-On was released last year as an accessory that adds a second screen to supported Retroid handhelds. It arrived at a time when rival brands such as AYN and Ayaneo decided to launch dual-screen handhelds. The accessory's product page specifically mentions compatibility with the Pocket Mini, Pocket Mini V2, and Pocket 5 (currently available on Amazon for $229), so it is good to see that it is also compatible with the new Retroid Pocket 6.
One of the videos shows the Retroid Pocket 6 running Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS, and as you can see, the gameplay happens on the top screen while the damage percentage is displayed on the screen of the Pocket 6. The other video below shows the handheld running Mario Kart 7 for 3DS.
So if you already own the Dual Screen Add-on, then you should be able to use it right away with the Pocket 6. Unfortunately, those who are considering purchasing the screen accessory after seeing these videos will not be able to do so, as it is currently sold out on Retroid's website. It is not clear how long it has been out of stock and if it will be permanent. However, if it is the latter, we hope Retroid is working on a new version of the display.
