Following the release of the GB Operator, a Game Boy cartridge reader for computers, Epilogue is now introducing the SN Operator, a version for Super Nintendo cartridges. The way it works is very simple: the SN Operator is connected to a computer via a USB-C cable, a game cartridge is inserted and played using an emulator.
Epilogue offers the corresponding software for Windows, macOS and Linux, and the SN Operator is officially compatible with the Steam Deck, the Asus ROG Ally and the Raspberry Pi. According to Epilogue's marketing, the SN Operator allows you to play your own game collection with the modern convenience you've come to expect from emulators. Not only can the SN Operator synchronize save states, it also allows you to enter cheat codes, use modern gamepads and access Retro Achievements.
The SN Operator can also be used to digitize game cartridges and to play the ROM files with any emulator, thus avoiding potential legal issues associated with downloading ROM files. The Epilogue SN Operator is compatible with SNES and Super Famicom games from all regions, so unlike Nintendo's console, there is no region lock. For collectors, the gadget also offers the ability to detect counterfeit game cartridges.
Price and availability
