Report: OnePlus and Realme have merged

At the beginning of this year, rumors about OnePlus shutting operations in various regions started surfacing. The company denied those rumors, but that didn’t stop similar reports from circulating in the following weeks and months. Now, a new leak is claiming that OnePlus has merged with another Oppo sub-brand for both domestic and overseas operations.
It should be noted that no official statement has been put out by any of the brands involved. That being said, a report from Leifeng.com citing an internal announcement states that OnePlus has merged with Realme and that a “sub-product center has been established” to manage domestic and overseas operations. This branch is headed by Li Jie, the president of OnePlus China, who is said to be reporting to Pete Lau, the CEO of OnePlus.
The marketing and servicing for OnePlus and Realme products will be handled by another new department that is headed by Li Bingzhong, the co-founder of Realme, and Xi Qi, the Chief Marketing Officer of Realme.
OnePlus has been part of the Oppo family for several years, but Realme, which started as a sub-brand of Oppo, split from the parent company in 2018 and was reabsorbed at the beginning of this year.
This comes after multiple leaks about OnePlus closing down in the US and Europe by April, but there was no public announcement as such. That, however, didn’t slow down new launches with the most recent being OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra phone and the Strix G15 gaming accessory.
