Counter-Strike 2 pro receives lifetime ban after punching opponent at LAN event

One of the most shocking Counter-Strike 2 moments happened recently. On April 19, at the CAGGTUS Leipzig LAN party in Germany, things went south fast during the awards ceremony for the Counter-Strike 2 tournament.
The 31-year-old streamer and semi-professional competitor from Berlin, Maurizio “MAUschine” Weber, walked up to his opponent, Fabian “Spidergum” Salomon, and punched him right in the face. The punch connected cleanly, causing Spidergum’s glasses to fly off into the crowd, and everyone, including the host, was in shock.
What’s even more surprising is that MAUschine didn’t even break his stride. He kept moving forward to shake hands with the other players as if nothing had happened. That’s when the presenter intervened and asked for MAUschine to be removed from the stage. Influencer Jake Lucky later posted the footage on X.
So what caused this fit of rage? It happened right after MAUschine’s team lost the grand finals to Spidergum’s team, Legends Lobby from regnum4games. There weren’t any particularly high stakes or large cash prizes involved in the event, either.
During the grand finals, Spidergum had been shouting “papichulo” after winning rounds. For context, this is MAUschine’s catchphrase, which he uses during his streams. Essentially, Spidergum was mocking MAUschine to get under his skin. MAUschine was clearly upset after the repeated taunts.
The German Counter-Strike community didn’t waste time addressing the situation. The tournament organizers DACH CS Masters, issued a strong statement on X and said (translated):
“We do not tolerate physical assaults against other players at LAN events and have acted accordingly. MAUschine is banned for at least 10 years, and the incident has been reported to the Esports Integrity Commission. In case it wasn’t clear, we believe violence has no place in our league.”
However, that was far from the end of the story, as the fallout from MAUschine’s assault led to him receiving 10-year bans from the wider German DACH League and Fragster. To make matters worse for the streamer, his Twitch account was also suspended.
To make matters worse for MAUschine, on April 21, the Esports Integrity Commission issued a lifetime ban for Maurizio “MAUschine” Weber, effectively restricting him from all ESIC-sanctioned events globally and making it the sixth lifetime ban in ESIC history.
