The Dimensity 2000 processor is thought to succeed the 1200 of 2021 with monumental improvements in terms of performance and power-efficiency. However, its product name is still largely the stuff of speculation, and has seen little enough acknowledgement from relevant figures in the industry. However, that has now changed with just 1 Weibo post by Redmi's general manager Lu Weibing.
The Xiaomi subsidiary executive has casually brought the supposed title of MediaTek's upcoming flagship up in the new message, in a way that apparently (according to Google Translate, at least) seeks to spark a discussion among Redmi fans about the chipset and what it might bring to the brand.
To presume to answer that question based on the latest leaks, this involves a cutting-edge 4nm architecture with a complement of cores to rival that of the "Snapdragon 898" and the alleged power to match. Accordingly, it just might make an extremely worthwhile contribution to, say, the Redmi K or Note lines in the near future.
Nevertheless, these indications are still largely based on rumors, and the promise of the Dimensity 2000 may come to not all that much in reality. (The 1200 also had many specs in common with the Snapdragon 888, and yet failed to outshine it in the flagship segment, after all.) On the other hand, there is nothing to say the new-found optimism surrounding MediaTek's latest developments may be unfounded as yet.
