Redmi Pad Pro 5G: Xiaomi has officially confirmed 5G version of its newest tablet
It wasn't so long ago that Xiaomi initially presented the Redmi Pad Pro was first presented in China, and just over a week ago the new tablet went on sale in Europe. Since then, the tablet from Xiaomi can be ordered directly from the manufacturer for just under 300 euros RRP, with the Redmi Pad Pro Keyboard (RRP 99.99 euros) and the Redmi Smart Pen (RRP 69.99 euros) included as a free gift at the launch (until June 4, 2024).
The 12.1-inch tablet offers good features considering its price but lacks one thing: its own mobile network connection. The Redmi Pad Pro is therefore not available with an integrated 4G or 5G modem, but only with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth - at least for now. After the first rumors about a 5G version of the Redmi tablet a few weeks ago, the imminent launch of the Redmi Pad Pro 5G has now been confirmed.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has published at X (formerly Twitter) to make the upcoming launch of the Redmi Pad Pro 5G official. Since the announcement was made on X and not on Weibo, this should be understood as a sign of a global launch of the 5G version, so it should not be reserved for the Chinese market. According to the tweet, however, the tablet does not appear to support an eSIM and requires a physical SIM card. It is also possible to connect to a smartphone hotspot at the tap of a finger.

The certification authority TENAA provides further indications of the upcoming launch of the Redmi Pad Pro 5G. The China version with the model number 24074RPD2C has appeared there. In addition to support for dual SIM, GPS, AGPS, BeiDou, Glonass, and Wi-Fi, the entry also mentions a 4,900 mAh battery, which seems questionable compared to the 10,000 mAh of the Redmi Pad Pro.
On the whole, it is likely that the 5G version will have the same features as the WiFi-only version. In addition to a 12.1-inch 2.5K LCD with 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and 120 Hz, it also offers the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 with up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB internal memory.
