Colorful has introduced a new AMD Gorgon Halo-powered mini PC with up to 192 GB of RAM and a powerful 16-core Zen 5-based APU. The mini PC's exact pricing and availability details are yet to be confirmed, however.

Over the past few weeks, we have witnessed quite a few mini PCs powered by the beastly AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 APU with up to an enormous 192 GB of RAM. Now, it appears that the brand Colorful wants to dip its toes into the same pool, having announced the Lingchuang Mini Pro mini PC.

As the name might suggest, the mini PC has only been revealed for the Chinese market as of now. Colorful does bring plenty of its products to the global market, and the same might be true for the Mini Pro mini PC as well, perhaps with a rebrand.

16-core AMD "Gorgon Halo" monstrosity appears in yet another mini PC

The mini PC sports the aforementioned Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 "Gorgon Halo" APU, which features a total of 16 Zen 5 cores and 32 threads, similar to its "Strix Halo" predecessor.

That said, the new chip does feature higher CPU boost clocks (+100 MHz), and leaked Passmark results appear to indicate that a roughly 5% improvement in synthetic multi-threaded workloads might be possible.

The Radeon 8065S iGPU also features the exact same RDNA 3.5-based 40 CU layout as the Radeon 8060S, except that it now comes with higher boost clocks. This should allow for a slight improvement in performance, and the iGPU should continue trading blows with a typical Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU.

Clearly, the new Gorgon Halo APUs should allow the Lingchuang Mini Pro mini PC to be a solid performer in gaming, productivity, and other intensive workloads. The iGPU can access 160 GB of the system's total RAM, which should help a ton with large local LLMs as well.

Colorful has not revealed any other details regarding the mini PC, including those regarding pricing or availability. That said, given the current circumstances surrounding DRAM and NAND prices, the Mini Pro mini PC is more than likely to command a hefty price tag.

Folks who do not have several thousand dollars to throw at a mini PC, can check out the Strix Point-powered Geekom A9 Max, currently available for $1,170 on Amazon.
