Peladn launches affordable mini PC with AMD Picasso APU

Peladn has introduced yet another configuration for the WO5 mini PC, and this time, it's powered by an AMD Picasso-U APU. Specifically, it features the Ryzen 5 3500U, which has a four-core configuration and is based on the Zen+ microarchitecture.

While it's dated, the AMD APU can still handle everyday tasks and lightweight office workloads with ease. The RX Vega 8 iGPU can even take care of some moderate GPU-intensive tasks, but it can't really run any modern games.

To be specific, performance-wise, the AMD Ryzen 5 3500U-equipped WO5 sits slightly below the Core 3 304 variant of the mini PC. Peladn notes that the mini PC can be configured at up to 15W TDP, meaning that the cooling setup for this configuration isn't great either.

On the bright side, this new configuration of the mini PC is relatively compact, and even with the small form factor, it brings a decent number of ports. Precisely, it has the following:

With the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C and two HDMI ports, the mini PC should be capable of offering triple display output (3.3-feet Silkland USB-C monitor cable cur. $11.89 on Amazon). Among the other highlights are WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and upgradeable RAM and storage. In China, the Ryzen 5 3500U configuration of the mini PC comes with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, and it retails for CNY 1,549, about $230. Given that the 4300U variant is already available in the global market, this one could also launch outside China soon.
