Affordable mini PC with AMD APU and 16 GB DDR4 RAM now available for pre-order

Over the past few days, we have been busy covering a ton of high-end, expensive mini PCs aimed at squeezing every ounce of performance out of their silicon.

Now, it appears that Beelink has turned its attention to the budget-oriented class, having introduced a new AMD-powered variant of its affordable EQR5 mini PC.

Powered by the AMD Ryzen 3 7330U, the new variant of the EQR5 mini PC aims to cater to folks with moderate performance expectations. After all, this specific Ryzen 3 is a three-year-old chip belonging to the "Cezanne" family of Zen 3-based CPUs.

The chip packs a 4-core, 8-thread setup and promises performance that is roughly in the same range as a modern Intel Core 5 320 found in many entry-level laptops. Simply put, most day-to-day workloads such as web browsing, communications, content consumption and lightweight office workloads should be perfectly doable on the system.

The EQR5 mini PC sports dual SODIMM slots, which can accommodate up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM. Storage is also upgradeable, courtesy of dual M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 slots that can house a maximum 8 TB of storage.

Unsurprisingly, the mini PC does not have any room for discrete graphics, relying solely on the Ryzen 3 APU's RX Vega 6 iGPU. This specific iGPU is a very modest part, and can only manage to run pretty basic, non-intensive GPU workloads such as video acceleration, lightweight low-end gaming, etc. The I/O on offer is pretty decent, and has been detailed below:

The entry-level variant of the EQR5 mini PC with the AMD Ryzen 3 7330U, 16 GB DDR4 RAM, and 500 GB SSD is already available for pre-order on Beelink's official website, priced at $399. Interestingly, this is the same price as its Ryzen 5 5500U-equipped sibling, which makes the latter a better buy for most people.
