AMD Ryzen CPUs could get 10 % more expensive as TSMC costs climb

AMD could raise prices for some of its chips by roughly 10% in the fourth quarter of 2026 as higher manufacturing costs at TSMC put pressure on its margins. According to a report citing supply-chain sources, TSMC has notified customers of higher wafer prices, prompting AMD to notify its own partners of a planned price increase.
AI accelerator chips, consumer graphics processors and motherboard chipsets are specifically mentioned as affected product categories. Ryzen CPUs are not included in that list, so there is no confirmation that AMD will raise Ryzen prices by 10 %. However, AMD’s client processors are manufactured by TSMC, meaning higher wafer costs could add pressure to the company’s margins. The report suggests AMD could eventually pass some of those costs on to consumers, potentially making Ryzen CPUs more expensive in the fourth quarter.
The potential increase follows a broader period of pressure on PC-component pricing, particularly as demand for AI hardware consumes advanced manufacturing capacity. Memory, SSD and graphics-card prices have all been affected. Intel has also raised the recommended customer prices of selected Core Ultra desktop processors, while a separate report says it may pursue a further PC CPU price increase in October.
Higher wafer costs could affect not only processors but also AMD’s consumer GPUs and motherboard chipsets if the reported increase is implemented. That means PC builders could potentially see cost pressure across several core components at once, including graphics cards, processors and motherboards.
For now, prospective buyers should treat a 10 % Ryzen price increase as a possibility rather than a confirmed development. AMD has not publicly announced new Ryzen pricing, named the affected CPU models or said when any consumer-chip changes would take effect. The reported changes may apply to AMD’s prices for partners rather than final retail pricing, and Ryzen has yet to be specifically confirmed as part of the increase.
