A new version of the Philips Hue app, 5.54, has arrived. Currently only available for Android users, a version for iOS is expected to roll out in the near future. It arrives a couple of weeks after the last release, version 5.53, which brought changes related to MotionAware areas and accessories.
The first two changes listed in the release notes are only for owners of the Philips Hue Bridge Pro. These users can now choose for MotionAware areas to be switched on or off based on the ambient light level detected by a light sensor. This means that you could set your lights to be motion-triggered only when it gets dark. Hue Bridge Pro users can also now officially find MotionAware areas in the Room View. Similarly, all users can now also see their accessories, like the Smart Dimmer Switch (curr. $30.99 at Amazon), from the Room View.
Another change in the Philips Hue app version 5.54 update is for the Hue AI Assistant, found on the Home tab. The assistant now supports voice commands, though only for the English language for now. The company also indicates that it is available in a limited selection of countries, without providing further details. Another change is for the Hue Secure camera, which will now have 24 hours' worth of video recordings automatically saved free of charge. Finally, there is support for multiple bridge set-ups to be controlled via Google Home and Samsung SmartThings.
You can now download the Philips Hue app version 5.54 for Android from the Google Play Store. An iOS release should arrive at the Apple App Store in the coming days.
