XDO Tech claims to have fit all the power of a full-sized desktop PC into a new cube that can fit in the palm of a hand. The Pantera 2 also upgrades to on-board RGB and an OLED "Stat Display". It has launched for under $749 as a crowdfunding reward, although it can be bundled with a new, matching external GPU.

XDO Tech has just unleashed the second-gen Pantera 2 mini-PC on the market. It is bigger than its predecessor, but has switched to more powerful Ryzen processors.

It is still in the form of a cube, albeit augmented with an RGB lid in this generation. The Pantera 2 also integrates a "Multi-Function" display made of OLED on one side, which can be set to show the time as well as CPU temperatures and usage.

It also sports a Gigabit LAN port as well as an HDMI 2.1 port, a microSD card slot and dual USB-C ports (1 of which is of the 4.0 standard). There are also vents to the rear and top in order to help keep the miniature PC cool.

Its AMD platforms also confer Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. The Pantera 2 has debuted via Kickstarter, starting at about $569 (4,400 Hong Kong dollars) for an "Apex" SKU with the Ryzen 8840U, 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD.

The Pantera 2 Apex tops out with a 64GB/4TB configuration for ~$750, although the PC is also available in more affordable Neo, Elite, Pro and Star SKUs with the Ryzen 5 6600H, 7 6800H, 7 7735U and 7 7840U APUs respectively that start at ~$339 at this point in their campaign.

Neither version of the new mini-PC has dedicated graphics - although XDO Tech has prepared a new Boostr external GPU for this version of the Pantera.

It is available as part of "All-Star Pack" bundles that also include either the Pantera 2 Pro, Star or Apex and start at $939 on their crowdfunding page, which has only just launched yet has exceeded its ~$2,000 goal with 59 days left to go.
