Our recent review of the HP Victus 15 left us with mixed feelings. While we appreciate the steady performance of the CPU and GPU, the RTX 5050 often falls short of its potential because Acer has limited the TGP to 80 watts instead of the maximum 115 watts. Other similar laptops, such as the Acer Nitro V 16 AI, which we will also be reviewing soon, perform better in this regard.
The 15-inch laptop also struggles somewhat against budget gaming competitors. Buyers have to make compromises not only in terms of connectivity (e.g., no card reader) but also in battery life. Furthermore, the display has a rather limited color gamut, which, unfortunately, is a common issue on many budget gaming laptops.
On the plus side, we observed moderate emissions. Noise and temperature levels are lower than those of its competitors on average. Those who want to upgrade the SSD and RAM later will also appreciate the two M.2 and two SO-DIMM slots.
