The HP offers per-key RGB lighting, dedicated mouse buttons, and more storage options than the Dell. On the other hand, performance-hunters and AI modelers may prefer the Dell for its CAMM2 benefits.

We initially expected the HP ZBook Fury G1i 18 and Dell Pro Max 18 Plus to be quite similar given that they come configured with exactly the same CPU and GPU options and are even both limited to 2K 1600p IPS displays. After going hands-on with them back-to-back, however, their differences can be quite pronounced.

The table below summarizes a handful of the differences between the HP and Dell mobile workstations. A few are relatively minor, but they add up to quality-of-life differences that long-term users may care about beyond simply performance. Arguably the most noticeable difference is that the Dell system supports up to 300 W USB-C charging and so it doesn't need the usual barrel AC adapters that ship with most high-performance laptops. It also comes standard with a 3-year warranty versus only one year for the HP when purchased in the US.

CAMM2 support may be trivial to some buyers, but its superior capacity (256 GB vs. 128 GB) and speed over regular SODIMM for certain applications like AI training may make the Dell workstation more desirable than the HP.

Additional differences between the two models include fan noise and temperature by wider margins than initially expected. Users can check out our review on the ZBook Fury G1i 18 for more benchmark comparisons.
