AMD definitely didn't do itself any favors with the Ryzen 5 40. While notebooks that house the CPU are available at attractive prices, its performance leaves much to be desired. Starting with the CPU, which only performs on par with the older Ryzen 5 7520U and stands no chance against, for example, the Ryzen AI 5 330 or 430, or the Core Ultra 7 255U.
However, the integrated GPU, the Radeon 610M, fares even worse. As our measurements and benchmarks show, the GPU is incapable of running modern games smoothly, even at minimum detail settings. Even a (rather sluggish) Radeon 820M is often significantly faster. Only older or less demanding titles like Dota 2 still run smoothly to some extent.
Overall, the OmniBook 3, which we used to test the Ryzen 5 40, doesn't quite live up to its name, as the term "Omni" suggests suitability for all kinds of applications. You can find more information in review of the 17-inch model.
