About a week ago, reports surfaced claiming that Huawei was working on the EMUI 10 update for the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro, the company's flagship phone from 2016. Huawei has reportedly now confirmed those claims to be without substance.

Last week, there were reports flying around, claiming that Huawei would deliver the EMUI 10 update to the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro. They weren't baseless, either, as the source of the rumors was a comment reply made by Huawei's official account on Instagram. Sadly, Mate 9 owners would do well to kill any hopes they have.

Huawei has apparently confirmed to Huawei Central that the comment was an auto-generated one. As such, it's not be taken as evidence whatsoever. The company is not working on EMUI 10 for the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro, end of.

We're not sure why anyone would've had their hopes raised, really. Huawei is notorious for quickly giving up on devices. The Honor 8, for example, was planned to be ditched before it got its second OS upgrade, and we're seeing a repeat with the Honor Play. Both devices featured flagship SoCs at the time of launch.

The Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro have already received their two deserved OS updates—Oreo and Pie. It was silly to expect a third OS upgrade, especially since the only Android OEMs that provide three OS updates are Google, OnePlus, and Essential.

So, will the Mate 9 or Mate 9 Pro receive EMUI 10? No, they won't. They've both reached the end of their support lifespans.

This was just an auto-generated response.
