At the start of the year, the Legion Go S became the first non-Valve handheld to ship with SteamOS (curr. $699.99 on Amazon). Sporting an exclusive Nebula Nocturne colourway, the SteamOS variant also features a dedicated Steam shortcut, unlike its Windows 11-based counterpart.
More importantly, Lenovo priced the SteamOS variant at over 15% less than its Windows sibling. However, the SteamOS variant took so much longer to arrive than the Windows variant that the latter was already regularly available for well below the former's list price.
Unperturbed, Lenovo is now said to be preparing a SteamOS version of the Legion Go 2. According to Windows Latest, this new variant is set to debut next month during CES 2026 in Las Vegas. Specifications are reported to be unchanged, with the same 8.8-inch OLED display and 74 Wh battery as the original Windows model.
Moreover, Windows Latest claims that the 'powered by SteamOS' version will feature 'up to' an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 2 TB of storage. Therefore, Ryzen Z2 variants with 16 GB and 32 GB of RAM will likely be available too. While pricing and availability remain unknown for now, the SteamOS version should be cheaper than the $1,099 Lenovo charges for the current Legion Go 2, or $1,349 for the Ryzen Z2 Extreme version.
