Garmin previously introduced its own lifestyle tracking feature for various parameters, such as the consumption of caffeinated beverages. A new tool now caters to users who want deeper insights into their intake and even an estimate of their blood-caffeine levels. Caffeine Tracker, an app developed by Ondřej Božek rather than Garmin, comes with a widget and is compatible with a wide range of Garmin smartwatches, including many Forerunner and Fenix models (Fenix 8 available on Amazon).
The app lets you log your intake of various caffeinated drinks, such as coffee and cola, directly on your watch, eliminating the need to use a smartphone. Using your body weight and caffeine’s biological half-life, it estimates your current blood-caffeine concentration and presents the data in both a quick-view format and a chart.
Caffeine Tracker is essentially free to use, with additional premium features locked behind a one-time payment of €4.90 (around $5.80). The premium version adds adjustable caffeine half-life, advanced daily statistics, and a customisable lower blood-caffeine threshold – useful for avoiding caffeine too close to bedtime.
I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, I moved from Singapore to
Cologne in 2014 and began pursuing a career as a freelance translator. Much of my translation work
focuses on science, engineering and technology. My fascination with computers and mobile
electronics began when I was young. And I have fond memories reading countless tech and gaming
magazines. Working with Notebookcheck gives me the opportunity to incorporate my personal
interests into my professional work.
