A recent update for the Garmin Connect app has been causing connectivity issues for some users. Flagged by many customers on the brand’s online forum and on Reddit, a bug was preventing these wearables from connecting as expected to a smartphone. The problem was only affecting iOS, not Android users, and a wide range of models, including the Fenix 8, the Venu 4 and the Forerunner 970 (curr. from $689.99 at Amazon).
Now, Garmin has officially acknowledged the issue on its website. It has also confirmed to Gadgets and Wearables that it has resolved this connectivity issue with the Garmin Connect iOS app version 5.21.1. You can download this update from the Apple App Store in various countries worldwide.
It is worth noting that some users have reported that installing Garmin Connect version 5.21.1 has not automatically resolved the issue. In this case, customers are advised to manually remove and then reconnect the two devices. You can find a step-by-step guide for this relatively simple process on Garmin’s official support page. There do not appear to be any further bug fixes or improvements in the Garmin Connect app version 5.21.1 release.
