Garmin has released software version 4.80 for the Approach R50 portable golf launch monitor and simulator. This accessory, designed to help users improve their game, was last updated with software version 4.60 around three months ago.
With software version 4.80, users of the Approach R50 gain a host of new features. There is a new play mode, On Course Practice, which allows you to try out various shots on over 42,000+ golf courses. Users can now select which hole to play during a Home Tee Hero round, and you can disable the Lie Penalty in this mode. Plus, users can now access the mulligan, replay, and metrics buttons of the previous shot in Home Tee Hero.
Garmin has also brought a new keyboard simulator feature to the Approach R50. This can be used when connected via Bluetooth to a computer running third-party simulator software. On top of this, there is an additional unit of measurement setting for putting units, and a retail demonstration mode.
Software version 4.80 is now available for all users of the Garmin Approach R50 (curr. $4,999.99 at Amazon). This update should be installed automatically when the device is connected to Wi-Fi. It can also be manually triggered by going to Menu > Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
