The Garmin Approach S44 and Approach S50 golfing smartwatches are receiving a new update: system software 8.04. This release arrives around three months after the last stable update, version 7.16, which fixed an activity data handling related issue.
With system software 8.04, Garmin is bringing four more bug fixes to the Approach S44 and Approach S50 smartwatches. The first tackles a problem with the PlaysLike mode, experienced by S50 users, where the toggle on the hazards and layups screen was not working as expected. The second, for all users, addresses an issue with the PlaysLike distance received from a linked rangefinder.
Garmin has also fixed a bug which could cause incorrect hole and par information for a course. Plus, the company has resolved a problem which meant that users could not adjust the volume in the Approach smartwatch’s music app.
In a recent post in the Garmin forum, a representative for the brand confirmed that system software version 8.04 was now available for all users of the Approach S44 and Approach S50 smartwatches (curr. $399.99 at Amazon). The update can be installed via the Garmin Golf app or with Garmin Express.
