Earlier today, we reported that Garmin had issued a new beta update for smartwatches like the Instinct Crossover AMOLED. A confusing build as it stands, Beta Version 13.15 contains the sme changelog as its predecessor. While we await more details, if any, about what this new beta entails, Garmin has quietly dropped a fresh stable update for the same smartwatches, too.
However, there is a catch that may catch out people hoping for a major stable release. For context, Garmin started v13.xx development over a month ago with the introduction of Beta Version 13.08. Although the company has issued plenty of beta builds since, it has reverted to v12.xx development with the launch of its latest stable update for the Instinct 3 and co.
This time, the company has pushed System Software 12.26 with a solitary bug fix. Specifically, the new update is said to add support for Garmin's new Xero C2 chronograph. After applying the update, all Instinct 3 series smartwatches should be able to control and display data that the Xero C2 collects, including the cheaper Instinct E (curr. $199.99 on Amazon). Currently, Garmin estimates that around 50% of smartwatches have received a notification to download System Software 12.26 as an over-the-air (OTA) update.
