Casio’s latest G-Shock collaboration is built for the kind of abuse most watches will never see. Built with Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body, the GWG-B1000TLC-1AJR is inspired by Dakar Rally night driving and loaded with sensors, navigation tools, and Mudmaster toughness.

Casio has teamed up with Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body to release a new special-edition watch dubbed the GWG-B1000TLC-1AJR, a customized edition of the Master of G Mudmaster that looks ready to survive the apocalypse, or at least the world's most grueling rally race.

A moonlit desert on your wrist

The design of the GWG-B1000TLC-1A is inspired by the harsh night driving of the Dakar Rally. Casio has gone for a moonlit desert aesthetic, with the black urethane band featuring an all-over print of a sand or dust-like texture. Meanwhile, the gold ion-plated stainless steel band ring represents a full moon hanging over the dunes.

Casio says the multicolor accent dial design is inspired by the GPS navigation systems inside the team’s Dakar Rally Land Cruisers, with red, blue, and yellow accents pulled directly from the display colors that convey vehicle information and driving conditions. They are carried over to the two small hands and the second hand, improving nighttime readability and adding contrast to the black dial.

Comes equipped with ABC sensors

The GWG-B1000TLC-1AJR also packs Casio’s Triple Sensor tech, allowing you to measure altitude, barometric pressure, and temperature as well as access compass navigation. There’s also a built-in location indicator that points you toward a preset destination, and a small dot-matrix display for displaying time/date, sensor measurements, and direction.

Mudmaster toughness, dialed all the way up

And as you would expect from a Mudmaster, the GWG-B1000TLC-1 offers exceptional durability. It’s shockproof, dustproof, mudproof, and vibration-resistant, featuring a carbon-reinforced resin case protecting the module and a screw-lock crown that prevents the intrusion of dust and mud.

Other notable highlights include solar charging, Multiband 6 radio-controlled time adjustments, the ability to link the watch to your smartphone via the Casio app over Bluetooth, a high-brightness double LED backlight, and standard time-keeping features such as world time, a stopwatch, and an auto calendar.

Pricing & Availability

The G-Shock GWG-B1000TLC-1A x Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body (that’s a mouthful!) is launching first in Japan. It’s priced at ¥140,800 (~$889) and will go on sale in February. If past TLC collab models are any indication, the watch should eventually make its way to international markets, including the US and Europe.
