Casio already offers a wide range of rugged sports watches aimed at fitness enthusiasts under its G-Shock Move (known in some markets as G-Shock Squad) lineup. However, options are quite limited if you’re specifically looking for a G-Shock with an optical heart rate sensor, with the GBD-H2000 and DW-H5600 series being your only choices. That could change soon, though.
The GM-H5600 could blend fitness tracking with a metal case
According to a fresh leak from Great G-Shock World, Casio appears to be readying a new fitness watch with a heart rate monitor. The watch, which reportedly carries model number GM-H5600, is expected to be a cross between the highly popular DW-H5600 and GM-5600 series, and will likely combine the advanced fitness tracking capabilities of the G-Shock Move line with a square metal case.
While details about exact features and tech remain scarce at this point, the GM-H5600 is expected to retain most of the advanced tracking features from the DW-H5600, including continuous heart rate monitoring, sleep and workout analysis, the ability to track runs and interval training, Life Log and Nightly Recharge, and blood oxygen level measurement. As the “GM” designation suggests, the biggest change would be the addition of a metal case, which should give the upcoming watch a more premium, lifestyle-friendly aesthetic without sacrificing durability.
A spring or summer 2026 release looks likely
Great G-Shock World further reports that the GM-H5600 was registered with multiple Asian certification bodies several months ago, which suggests that development is already well underway. There’s no word on an official release date or pricing, but it’s safe to assume that the GM-H5600 will be a premium offering and cost more than the DW-H5600, thanks to the switch to metal construction.
As for a tentative release date, we’re told the watch might arrive in Spring or Summer. That said, all of this remains a speculation and educated guess at this point and should be taken with a pinch of salt as Casio hasn't officially confirmed anything about the existence of the watch.
