Casio and Japanese bagmaker Porter have teamed up again for a special edition watch dubbed the "G-Shock x POTR DW-5600". Like the previous collaboration model, the new timepiece will only be released in Japan and sold exclusively through domestic Porter stores and the parent company Yoshida & Co.’s online store.
The watch features turquoise blue accents throughout the case and strap. There’s also a hidden POTR logo embedded in the LCD, which only appears when you illuminate the backlight. Meanwhile, the brand's whimsical smiley face is engraved on the back of the stainless steel case, while the resin strap is printed with both "POTR" and "YOSHIDA & Co." logos.
While the 2023 collaboration was based on the DW-5900-1 and featured an EL backlight, the latest edition is built on the G-Shock DW-5600UE-1, a foundational update to the classic DW-5600E-1 released in 2012. It swaps the traditional EL backlight for a modern, high-brightness LED (Super Illuminator), which not only provides a crisp white light but also improves battery life, offering up to five years of endurance on a single CR2016 cell.
There’s no change to features or build, with the watch still offering standard shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, mineral glass protection, and a suite of timing tools, including a 1/100-second stopwatch with split times, a 24-hour countdown timer with auto-repeat, a multi-function alarm, and a flash alert.
The G-Shock x POTR DW-5600 launches in Japan on January 10 and will go on sale for ¥25,300 (~$161.64). It will be available at select domestic Porter stores, including the new PORTER KOBE store opening that same day, and theYoshida & Kaban official online store.
