Garmin has released a new radar-enabled tail light for cyclists. Visible from up to 2 km (1.24 miles) away with 24 hours of battery life, the Varia RearVue 820 also works with Garmin Edge cycling computers to provide advanced vehicle tracking in real-time.

Garmin has updated its Varia range with the RearVue 820. Arriving after recent Approach J1 and Quatix 8 Pro smartwatch releases, the Varia RearVue 820 is said to be Garmin's 'brightest and most powerful' radar tail light for cyclists yet.

To that end, the tail light should be visible from up to 2 km (1.24 miles) away with up to 10 hours of battery life when constantly enabled in night flash mode. Additionally, Garmin quotes up to 24 hours of battery life in day flash mode.

Also, the Varia RearVue 820 will emit a unique flashing pattern as you are stopping or slowing to warn approaching cyclists and vehicles. The tail light should fit most bikes too, thanks to Garmin's updated seatpost mount.

Moreover, the Varia RearVue 820 utilises radar to detect vehicles from up to 175 metres (190 yards). Not only that, but the tail light provides advanced vehicle tracking to cycling computers from the Edge 540 through to the Edge 1050 (curr. $699 on Amazon). The Varia RearVue 820 will be available to order from February 6 for $299.99 in the US. Please see Garmin's website for more details.
