New Garmin notification delay feature arrives in beta smartwatch update

Garmin has pushed beta version 16.28 to users of the Venu X1, Venu 4 and vivoactive 6 smartwatches. It follows the beta version 16.16 update, released in January 2026, which included the new Garmin Connect+ nutrition logging feature.
While the change log (screenshot below) lists many changes, some of these were included with older releases. New with beta version 16.28 are more alarm sounds, and the ability to delay notifications until after an activity, thanks to their addition to the stage menu. Plus, Garmin Connect Mobile Translations has been upgraded to version 3.50.
The Venu X1, Venu 4 and vivoactive 6 smartwatches are also receiving a bug fix, which should prevent the device from rebooting unexpectedly when starting an activity or at other times. Garmin has tackled issues linked to device resets when loading an indoor cycling course, and a blank screen shown when users try to launch the music player mid-activity. Only for users of the Venu X1 (curr. $599.99 at Amazon Marketplace), you can now save changes to structured repeats for your next interval workout, and pace is said to be more responsive.
If you are a Beta Program member with a Venu X1, Venu 4 and vivoactive 6 smartwatch, you can now download this version 16.28 update by going to the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates.
