New Seiko 5 Sports Field x Honda Motocompo Limited Edition arrive with a striking yellow dial and 4R36 caliber

After debuting the Seiko 5 Sports x Popeye last month, Seiko is back with another limited-edition watch that looks even more fun. The brand-new Seiko 5 Sports Field x Motocompo Limited Edition celebrates 45 years of Honda’s Motocompo, a compact, foldable scooter sold by the Japanese automaker between 1981 and 1983. It's limited to 8,000 pieces worldwide, with each piece carrying its own serial number on the case back.

The Seiko 5 Sports Field x Motocompo Limited Edition HDB010 features a compact 36.4mm steel case and a vibrant yellow dial inspired by the original ultra-compact scooter, complete with embossed black Arabic numerals. A transversal black section cuts across the center, mimicking the protective side bars on the motorbike while also displaying the Honda logo at 9 o'clock. 

Every detail pays homage to the cult-classic two-wheeler, from the unique AUTOMATIC lettering at the six o'clock position to the crown engraved with the word TURN, mimicking the fuel cock. The black nylon strap also gets in on the fun, with parts of the strap bearing "CARRYING POINT" and "INSERTION POINT" inscriptions that nod to the tie-down spots used to secure the 42-kilogram bike in the trunk of a Honda City car.

Turn the watch over, and you'll see a semi-transparent screw case back decorated with the silhouette of the iconic 1981 motorcycle and the engraved limited-edition serial number. Seiko will ship the watch in a special box that's designed to resemble the original corrugated cardboard carton used to ship the vintage scooter.

On the inside is Seiko's tried-and-tested automatic Caliber 4R36, which offers both automatic and manual winding, hacking seconds, a day-date display, 24 jewels, and up to 41 hours of power reserve. The watch is also rated for 100-meter water resistance and 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance.

The Seiko 5 Sports Field x Honda Motocompo Limited Edition (HDB010) is available for pre-order starting today and will go on sale globally sometime in September. It's priced at ¥52,800 in Japan, £340 in the UK, €390 in Europe, and AUD $575 in Australia. Japan will receive 1,200 of the 8,000 units, while the UK is allocated 455 pieces. The watch is confirmed to launch in the US, but the company has yet to reveal the pricing. We'll update the article once it's announced.
