Rumors suggest that the upcoming Casio G-Shock GMW-BZ5000D watch could be released with a discount. Leaks about this model have surfaced throughout 2025, with recent reports pointing to a November or December 2025 launch date for the Japanese market.
Now, the dedicated Casio blog Great G-Shock World suggests that at least two of the three G-Shock GMW-BZ5000D watches could be discounted from launch. Earlier pricing leaks revealed that the GMW-BZ5000D-1 (silver) would retail for ¥93,500 (~$614), while the GMW-BZ5000GD-1 (black) and GMW-BZ5000GD-9 (gold) variants will be more expensive at ¥102,300 (~$672).
The report suggests that the reduced price would be a result of the popularity of existing GMW-B5000 models. Watches like the GMW-B5000D-1 are priced at ¥88,000 (~$578). That would make the upcoming GMW-BZ5000D-1 watch around 6% more expensive, and the GMW-BZ5000GD-1 watch about 16% more expensive, which could impact sales. We also know that these new GMW-BZ5000D series watches will be sold at partner stores, which are more likely to offer discounts than Casio itself.
It is worth noting that, as the black GMW-BZ5000GD-1 will be exclusive to partner stores, and therefore a rarer watch, it is less likely that this variant would be discounted at launch. The source behind this discount rumor is not named. The higher price point of these Casio G-Shock GMW-BZ5000D watches is not without justification. They offer a new triple-layer case structure and an MIP LCD screen for improved visibility. Other features are expected to include Bluetooth connectivity, radio control (Multiband 6), Tough Solar charging and 200 m water resistance.
It remains to be seen when the Casio G-Shock GMW-BZ5000D watches will be released in Japan, and whether or not we could see launch discounts at partner stores. These products are expected to be released in markets worldwide in 2026.
