Awake, a French brand, has launched its latest Son Mai Fragments collection in the global market. The company has unveiled a total of three references in the collection, which combines Vietnamese lacquering, mother-of-pearl, and the ancient Japanese technique of Raden. Each reference comes with a gorgeous dial accented with tiny pieces of mother-of-pearl.
First, let’s talk about its dials. Awake has introduced a total of three references, each with a distinct dial color and varying sizes of mother-of-pearl fragments. For example, the green dial (forest light) uses the smallest pieces of mother-of-pearl, the blue dial has larger ones in scale, while the pink one comes with large pieces. The dial of the watch is adorned with faceted applied hands and indices paired with BGW9 lume in Awake’s coiffe signature.
All three references are constructed on Awake’s compact platform, featuring a 316L recycled steel case while maintaining the Son Mai dimensions: 39 mm in diameter, 46.6 mm lug-to-lug, and 10.9 mm (0.42 inch) thickness without the crystal. Speaking of powered things, the Son Mai Fragments lineup is powered by La Joux-Perret’s G101 automatic movement, which is said to offer 28,000 vibrations/hour and 68 hours of power reserve.
Awake has collaborated with Maison Jean Rousseau for a matte-black calfskin strap, lined in Alcantara, matching the colors of each dial. As for price, the Awake Son Mai Fragments series is the collection of three watches, and each is a limited edition of 100 pieces, retailing for €2,250. Speaking of availability, the first 50 pieces in each colorway will be available later this month, while the next 50 are coming in early 2026.
