Casio has opened pre-orders in Japan for two new A158 variants featuring woven stainless-steel mesh bracelets. The A158 WEM-3JF and A158 WEM-7JF are listed at ¥7,700 (~$50) each (tax included) on the brand's official storefront, with shipments scheduled for November 2025.
The mesh bracelet is a huge upgrade for these models, with the A158's vintage square case alongside a fine-woven metal band treated with a specialized longitudinal press pattern. Images show the bracelet's delicate weave covering the arm classically, with a free-style Nakadome clasp for quick adjustments across the stated 150 to 205 mm wrist range. Both color variants have the familiar chrome-plated resin case and printed bezel text that have been the cornerstone of the A158 aesthetic since its introduction, but the mesh hardware pushes that look toward dress-casual territory without really inflating the price.
The two launch variants differ primarily in dial surround tones. The A158 WEM-3JF comes with a darker, greenish-tinted face insert, while the A158 WEM-7JF opts for a lighter, more neutral gray treatment. Both share the same silver-toned case and brushed mesh bracelet.
Dimensions are still compact at 36.8 × 33.2 × 8.5 mm. Total weight is a modest 52 grams, thanks to the resin case construction and plastic glass rather than heavier mineral or sapphire alternatives. The case and bezel material is listed as resin with chrome plating, keeping costs down while still delivering the metallic look. Battery life is specified at approximately seven years under typical use, powered by a standard CR2016 cell. Water resistance is rated as "waterproof for everyday use".
The module includes a 1/100-second stopwatch with up to 60 minutes of elapsed, lap, and split timing capability - useful for basic interval training or kitchen tasks. A single daily alarm and hourly time signal are provided, along with 12/24-hour display switching to match regional conventions or user preference. Timekeeping accuracy is rated at an average monthly difference of ±30 seconds, which is quite typical for entry-level quartz digital movements in this price class. An auto-calendar function reduces manual date corrections, and the LED backlight uses a green light color for quick nighttime visibility.
Pre-orders for both models are now open on the official store, with a shared November 2025 release window.
