A fresh report from Casioblog details that Casio is preparing to launch its new AE-1700H series of digital watches, with a diver-styled aesthetic and a bunch of practical features - all at a pretty accessible price point. The AE-1700H watches feature an aluminum, unidirectional-style bezel and display design, which almost resembles higher-end Pro Trek models, alongside a battery rated for 10 years of operation.
The new series is set to arrive in at least three versions - basic black (AE-1700H-1A), a black with gold accents and a negative display (AE-1700H-1B), and a blue-red "Pepsi-like" colorway (AE-1700H-1A2) - similar to the Seiko SRPD53K1 (curr. $239 on Amazon). At 47.3mm wide, the AE-1700H is more compact than earlier AE-1500 and AE-1600 models, but still has a robust appearance.
Core features include dual time display, 24-hour chronograph, countdown timer with auto-repeat, alarm, hourly chime, full auto calendar, and an amber LED backlight, plus 100m water resistance. The digital display also features a neat animated second counter on its outer ring. The crystal is plastic, and the strap and case are made from resin for durability's sake.
While the diver-inspired bezel does give the watch a purposeful look, it may not offer true rotation. Sales are expected to begin November or December 2025, with an expected price point of $60 or nearly 50 euros.
