The Motorola Moto Razr 2022 has been available in China since August 2022; now, it has finally launched as the Razr 22 for the European market. The clamshell foldable makes a departure from its predecessors in becoming a truly high-end device in this generation, with top-end silicon to drive an FHD+ pOLED main display that can even handle increased refresh rates this time around.
The 22 is identical to the original Razr 2022 in every way, and even still runs Android 12 on this new debut date (October 25, 2022). Then again, it is described as having a stock build rather than Motorola's China-only MyUX skin, offering features such as Quick View modes for messaging, notification, navigation and selfie-taking right from the new Razr's relatively large cover display. Hopefully, the OEM can keep it up to date this time around.
Despite its potential advantages, Motorola has not really given the Razr 22 much of an edge in terms of starting price. It has arrived in limited markets such as Austria and Germany as just 1 8GB RAM/256GB internal storage option (even though 8/128GB and 12/512GB SKUs are available in China, not to mention as imports).
This single configuration, finished in Satin Black, has been set at €1,199.99 (~US$1,194), not compellingly far off the virtually identically-spec'd Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4's official price-tag. Perhaps Motorola is waiting to see how demand for this version of the Razr 22 goes before bringing more of its options to its new markets.
