Lenovo teases new gaming tablet with 5G, possible OLED upgrade

Lenovo has shared a new video teasing its next Legion gaming tablet, the Legion Y700 Ultimate, ahead of a full announcement in August. The clip shows the tablet will have both a physical SIM slot and an eSIM. Lenovo has not yet detailed the rest of the specs for the tablet, but the video does say the device is super portable, and the overall size looks to be about the same as its predecessor.
The Legion Y700 Ultimate succeeds the Legion Y700 (Gen 5), launched in March without 5G support. The Y700 (Gen 5) is powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and has an 8.8-inch display with a 1904x3040 resolution. It’s currently listed on Lenovo’s US site for $699.99. Lenovo has not commented on whether the Legion Y700 Ultimate will feature the same chipset, and the company has also remained silent on the battery capacity, RAM, and storage options for the new model.
Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station recently described the incoming tablet as Lenovo's fourth Legion-branded tablet this year and the first to pair an OLED display with 5G connectivity, a step up from the LCD panel on the Legion Y700 (Gen 5).
The same leak also pitted the tablet against the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, which sports an 185Hz OLED display but lacks 5G and is headed to international markets as the RedMagic Astra 2. The leak also indicates that an OLED panel paired with a 5G modem will likely push the Legion Y700 Ultimate's price higher than the regular Legion Y700 (Gen 5).
