Lenovo finally brings premium tablet with massive battery to Europe

The Lenovo Yoga Tab Gen 2 finally comes with a truly large battery, like those that have been available in China for some time.
With the Yoga Tab Gen 2, Lenovo is bringing a tablet with an 11,000 mAh battery to Europe. Are the days finally over when people in the West had to look enviously at the battery life of Chinese tablets and smartphones?

With dimensions of 250.6 x 173 x 6.2 millimeters (9.87 x 6.8 x 0.244 in), the Lenovo Yoga Tab Gen 2 is a compact tablet with an 11.1-inch screen, and at a weight of 480 grams (1.058 lbs), it is also easy to use on the go. The only thing that matters then is that the battery lasts long enough, so you do not constantly have to worry about finding a power outlet.

Tablets and smartphones often have smaller batteries in the West

But there is a problem: While the battery capacity of tablets and smartphones has increased significantly in China and other Asian countries in recent years, Western countries, particularly in Europe, have repeatedly received scaled-back models with smaller batteries. The reason is likely outdated regulations that make transporting higher-capacity batteries more difficult.

The Yoga Tab Gen 2 turns things around

But manufacturers now seem to have found a solution, as the Lenovo Yoga Tab Gen 2 comes with an 11,000-mAh battery and delivers significantly longer runtimes than its predecessor, as well as similar tablets in its price range. For example: While the Apple iPad Air 11 with an Apple M4 processor manages just 12 hours of battery life, the Yoga Tab Gen 2 lasts twice as long.

Under light use, such as reading an eBook, the tablet lasts up to 41 hours according to our tests. And those who do a lot of gaming or run other demanding apps still get 5 hours of battery life.

The Yoga Tab Gen 2 costs US$ 599, for example directly from the manufacturer.

The tablet offers a decent memory and storage configuration

At the same time, memory chips are becoming increasingly expensive, while higher battery capacities are becoming more affordable, in part thanks to major advances in electric car batteries.

Lenovo also provides a reasonable memory and storage configuration: The 8 GB of RAM is the most obvious point of criticism, but it is still generally sufficient for everyday use. However, 256 GB of storage and a microSD slot for expanding it make for a decent configuration in this price range.

Those who value mobility and long battery life will get their money's worth with the Lenovo Yoga Tab Gen 2, as our detailed review of the tablet also shows.
