An overall score of at least 88% is required in our test system to earn the top rating of "Very good".
Not many tablets and smartphones manage that, but a few days ago we welcomed a new tablet into the ranks of our highest-rated devices: The Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2 (currently available for US$ 799 at lenovo.com) is a premium tablet with a 13-inch screen, an optional stylus and keyboard cover, long-term updates, a large battery and plenty of power.
A serious challenger to Apple and Samsung
This puts it in direct competition with some of the highest-quality tablets on the market, and it holds up well overall. One reason for this is the fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, which may already be two years old but was used in the best smartphones and tablets at the time.
Even today, it is still fast enough for the vast majority of tasks, and only during extremely demanding activities such as high-resolution video editing will you notice any difference compared to current high-end SoCs.
Hardly any tablet can match its battery life
Lenovo also includes a huge battery with a capacity of 12,700 mAh, without making the chassis bulky: At 6.1 millimeters, it is still slim, and at 609 grams, the tablet is actually quite light for its size. Nevertheless, it manages over 20 hours of battery life in our realistic Wi-Fi test, beating many competitors.
The long update commitments also make a positive impression, even though they do not directly affect the score: Security updates are promised until 2033, along with new operating system versions up to Android 24. This means you can keep using your expensive tablet for a long time.
A sturdy chassis for the Lenovo tablet
We also liked the chassis, which has been further improved over its predecessor in particular and now feels noticeably sturdier and even more premium.
