For years, we have repeatedly read in the comments that battery life is very important to many tablet users.
We don't know whether Lenovo has been reading along too. But the manufacturer has now decided to equip its new flagship Android tablet, the Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2 (currently available for US$ 799 at lenovo.com), with a really large battery.
At 12,700 mAh, its capacity is a good 20 % higher than the battery in its predecessor, and many competing tablets cannot keep up either. Yet the Yoga tab Plus Gen 2 is no thicker or heavier than the competition—quite the opposite: At 605 grams, it is actually 9 grams lighter than an iPad Air 13 with significantly less battery capacity.
Great battery life on the Lenovo tablet
And what about battery life? In our realistic Wi-Fi test, the tablet lasts over 20 hours, something hardly any other tablet this large can manage. Since most users will probably switch their tablet off from time to time, several days of everyday use without recharging are possible.
The tablet can be charged at up to 68 watts, although a charger is not included in Europe. In our test, however, the Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2 had no problems with third-party chargers. As a result, charging takes no more than two hours despite the large battery.
The Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2 has even more to offer
But the long battery life is not the only positive aspect of the Lenovo tablet: You can expect high performance in everyday use—the SoC may no longer be brand-new, but it was used in top-of-the-line smartphones and tablets two years ago and is still fast enough for almost any task today.
Lenovo now also provides really long update support: New security patches are promised until 2033, along with new Android versions up to Android 24. In this respect, too, the manufacturer no longer needs to shy away from the competition.
