Alongside the Legion Go S, Lenovo has shown off another handheld gaming console at CES 2025. It succeeds its first attempt at the endeavour and keeps most of its design elements. But, the Lenovo Legion Go 2 is still in a prototype stage and it'll be a while before it will hit shelves.
Most of its improvements are under the hood. It will use AMD's recently unveiled Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip, like the original Legion Go. It is paired with 32 GB of LPDDR5X-7500 RAM and 2 TB of storage. The faster memory, combined with the RDNA 3 based Radeon 780M iGPU, should result in some meaningful performance gains.
However, the Lenovo Legion Go 2's largest improvement comes in the form of its screen. Now, you get an 8.8-inch WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) OLED screen clocked at 144 Hz, Variable Refresh Rate support, and 500 nits peak brightness. Now, that might not bode well for battery life but if you have access to a power source, the experience should be one to look forward to.
The Lenovo Legion Go 2 comes with a 74 Wh battery that charges at 65 Watts. This should be just about enough to keep the OLED screen juiced up for extended gaming sessions, although you might have to compromise on visual fidelity a little if you actually want a 144 Hz experience.
