AMD has unveiled three new chips for handheld gaming consoles: the Ryzen Z2 Extreme, Ryzen Z2 and Ryzen Z2 Go. We've seen the Ryzen Z2 Go show up alongside the Lenovo Legion Go S via an earlier leak. Before that, we got a rough idea about how the Ryzen Z2 Extreme would perform in benchmarks. Now, we get to see what the trio brings to the table.

As the above table states, the Ryzen Z2 Extreme and Ryzen Z2 are both 8-core/16-thread chips with more or less the same CPU specs. However, the Ryzen Z2 Extreme gets a 16 CU GPU, whereas the Ryzen Z2 has to make to with 12 CUs. Lastly, the Ryzen Z2 Go is a 4-core/8-thread chip with a 12 CU GPU and remarkably lower boost clocks. The Ryzen Z2 Extreme gets a minor TDP boost to 35 Watts, while the Ryzen Z2 and Ryzen Z2 Go are limited to 30 Watts.
Even though the Ryzen Z2 Extreme, Ryzen Z2 and Ryzen Z2 Go sound like they're cut from the same cloth, a well-known leaker says they're from three different product lines. For example, the Ryzen Z2 Extreme is the only CPU of the lot that is based on Strix Point with 3x Zen 5 and 5x Zen 5c CPU cores. The regular Ryzen Z2 is apparently based on Hawk Point (Ryzen 8000) and the Ryzen Z2 Go on Rembrandt (Ryzen 6000).
Of course, the above information about the Ryzen Z2 and Ryzen Z2 Go is not official, and we can only know for sure once the chips have been independently benchmarked. We already know where to expect the Ryzen Z2 Go, but the Ryzen Z2 and Ryzen Z2 Extreme's debut handhelds remain a mystery. But 2025 has just started and there are plenty of handhelds due to hit shelves, so they'll turn up eventually.
