Lenovo Legion 5i Pro gets the Tiger Lake-H treatment along with 16-inch QHD 165 Hz display and NVIDIA RTX 3050 and 3050 Ti GPU options
At CES 2021, Lenovo introduced the Legion 5 Pro powered by AMD Ryzen 5000 APUs and NVIDIA RTX 30 Laptop GPUs. Now, Lenovo is offering an Intel version powered by the latest 11th gen Tiger Lake-H CPUs and NVIDIA RTX 3050/3050 Ti Laptop GPU options.
The Legion 5i Pro offers the same 16-inch 16:10 165 Hz WQXGA display as the Legion 7i and the AMD Ryzen-powered Legion 5 Pro complete with DisplayHDR 400 certification and 100% sRGB coverage along with NVIDIA G-SYNC and Dolby Vision support. The Legion 5i Pro's display offers a 500-nit brightness and is TUV-certified for low blue light emissions.
Lenovo offers a choice between the Core i7-11800H and the Core i5-11400H Tiger Lake-H processors for the Legion 5i Pro. On the graphics front, buyers can choose between several options including the RTX 3050 (95 W), RTX 3050 Ti (95 W), RTX 3060 (130 W), and RTX 3070 (140 W) Laptop GPUs. Up to 32 GB DDR4-3200 can be configured along with up to a 1 TB PCIe Gen4 SSD.
Unlike the Legion 7i that comes with a Corsair iCUE RGB keyboard, the Legion 5i Pro offers a choice between a white, blue, and 4-zone RGB backlit keyboards, so there's no Legion TrueStrike fast input. Lenovo Coldfront 3.0 cooling thermal system and Legion AI Engine are also offered.
Port selection is similar to that of the Legion 7i including two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Some niceties such as Nahimic Audio and Killer AX1650 Wi-Fi are omitted in order to keep the cost down although Lenovo does offer the regular Intel Wi-Fi 6 2x2 connectivity with Bluetooth 5.1.
The Lenovo Legion 5i Pro will be available in Storm Grey and Stingray White color options and will start at US$1,329.99 with expected availability from June 2021.
