Starting with the release of Horizon Zero Dawn on PC in 2020, Sony has been steadily launching PS-exclusive games on PC. Sony’s PC portfolio now contains titles such as God of War, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Spiderman Remastered, to name a few. According to an internal Sony Steam sales chart that has now leaked on Reddit, the decision to release PS exclusives on PC seems to be paying off.
Per the sales chart, Horizon Zero Dawn has sold a total of 3.3 million copies on Steam since its launch in 2020. Similarly, God War which debuted on Steam in 2022 has seen 2.5 million units sold. This is followed by 1.7 million copies of Days Gone which launched in 2021.
Furthermore, Marvel’s Spider-man Remastered, a series developed by Insomniac Games that has suffered a massive leak, has managed to move 1.3 million copies since its release in 2022. However, Spider-Man: Miles Morales appears to be less popular with PC gamers as the title has only sold 450.2K units even though it launched a few months after Spider-Man Remastered.
Finally, Sony’s internal numbers reportedly show Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and Sackboy: A Big Adventure selling around 483.2K and a disappointing 62.9K copies respectively.
Long story short, even though Sony is launching its first-party games much later on PC than their original release on PlayStation, the titles are seemingly enjoying success on Steam. This is also apparent in Sony’s strategy of doubling down on PC releases.
