The 2019 Death Stranding featured a bizarre storyline with mysteries that still puzzle some players. After teasing viewers at last year's State of Play, gamers have been anxious for more details about a sequel. Celebrated leaker billbil-kun expects confirmation of a Death Stranding 2 release date very soon. Posting on the French Dealabs site, billbil-kun also uncovered pre-order information with pricing.
Referring to the Beached-Things creatures from its predecessor, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach may be a PS5 exclusive initially. Dealabs revealed that buyers will have a choice of a €79.99/$69.99 Standard Edition or a pricey $229.99 Collector's Edition. The cheaper Standard Edition will include an option for a physical disc.
Hideo Kojima assembled a high-profile Death Stranding cast to record voice-overs and motion captures. The celebrities included Norman Reedus of Walking Dead fame and Troy Baker. Sunday, March 9th, Kojima will host a panel at SXSW 2025 that consists of both performers. With the new billbil-kun leak, a Death Stranding 2 release date announcement seems likely at the event
Many details about Death Stranding 2 are unknown, but Kojima did tease the game at the 2024 Tokyo Game Show. After showing footage, the Metal Gear creator claimed the game was on track for a 2025 debut. More recently, Kojima shared a picture of himself editing a new trailer on social media.
A PlayStation Store update to the Death Stranding 2 page also gave new insight into the title. Sony mentions social strand gameplay, one of the unique elements of the original game. When traversing a bleak open world, players' actions leave a permanent mark on environments. Other gamers on separate journeys can benefit from structures or cargo left behind.
If the first game is any indication, players on other platforms may eventually have access to Death Stranding 2. The original appeared on desktops in 2020 and Sony has continued to port more PS5 titles to the PC since. Then, the Death Stranding Director's Cut landed on the Xbox in November.
