Latest RedMagic gaming tablet goes toe-to-toe with Ryzen Z2 Extreme in gaming benchmark

RedMagic has officially launched the Astra 2 in the global market. It's the company's answer to the Legion Tab Gen 5, but unlike the gaming tablet from Lenovo, RedMagic's offering comes with an OLED display. The device also has what the company calls liquid cooling tech, which should give it an edge under heavy loads.
Speaking of which, YouTuber Dame Tech has just put the Astra 2 to the test by putting the tablet against the ROG Xbox Ally X with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme. In the video, the RedMagic Astra 2 was shown running GTA V at identical frame rates to the Windows gaming handheld.
The game was tested at the 720p resolution with the visual settings at Very High, and the gaming tablet could hold above 70FPS during almost the entire gameplay session. Red Dead Redemption 2 was also tested, and the results are interesting.
During the gameplay comparison, the RedMagic Astra 2 was shown to be handling the game a bit better than the ROG Xbox Ally X. What's more impressive is that, per the system overlay, the gaming tablet had a power draw of around 20W, while the PC handheld was drawing 40W during the session.
That is, for about half the power draw, the RedMagic gaming tablet was able to run the game with slightly better frame rates. It's worth noting that RDR 2 was tested with the resolution at 720 and the visual settings at High.
Now, while this test once again proves that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has what it takes to take on mainstream gaming handhelds, it also highlights a big issue. The temperature, per the overlay, was over 100° Celsius during the entire test, and that's not ideal for a handheld setup (Black Shark Cooler 6 Pro curr. $59.99 on Amazon).
Of course, it should be noted that the RedMagic Astra 2 was running the PC games through an emulator while running Android. If they were running natively, things could've been even better for the gaming tablet.
