Intel could show off its next generation of desktop graphics cards next month. Based on the Battlemage architecture found on Lunar Lake, they will compete with mid-range offerings from Nvidia and AMD.

Some time ago, an unknown Intel dGPU showed up on Geekbench based on the Battlemage architecture. It packed 12 GB of VRAM and performed on par with an Arc A770/GeForce RTX 4060/Radeon RX 7600. Other specs include 20 Xe cores and a boost clock of 2.8 GHz. Weibo leaker Golden Pig Upgrade says we might get to see it in action next month.

The leaker uses the phrase 'wonderful performance', likely as a snark. Or it could be a teaser of things to come. Either way, we can expect to see new Intel desktop GPUs next month before AMD and Nvidia unveil their offerings at CES 2025. Alternatively, Intel could officially show off Battlemage dGPUs and follow it up with a proper launch later, similar to what it did with Lunar Lake.

Now, the question is, will they be able to hold up against either company? Only time will tell. Another leak revealed Intel has two desktop Battlemage GPUs in the worka. The one mentioned above (BMG G21) is a designated as an 'entry-level' SKU. Its higher-end counterpart (BMG G31) will likely pack more VRAM (16 GB) and hopefully trade blows with Ada Lovelace/RDNA 3 mid-rangers. Intel has a lot riding on Battlemage because its successor, Celestial, might not see the light of day of it fails.
