An earlier rumour said Intel's high-end Battlemage die got scrapped and is yet to tape out. If it ever sees the light of day, it will come with 16 GB VRAM and compete with high-end Nvidia Ada Lovelace offerings. However, Intel has another trick up its sleeve for Battlemage.
X leaker @harukaze5719 spotted an intriguing bit on a Chinese blogger's WeChat platform. Apparently, Intel is preparing a Battlemage GPU with 24 GB VRAM. But, this will be earmarked for data centre and AI applications and might not be suitable for gaming. Still, this tells us Intel has faith in Battlemage and that its GPUs will be around, at least for the immediate future.
If such a product does indeed exist, it will launch under the Intel Arc Pro lineup (Arc Pro B60, perhaps?). It will be quite an upgrade from the last-gen Arc Pro A60, which launched with 12 GB of GDDR6 VRAM and 16 Xe cores. Incidentally, this isn't too far off from the Arc B580. Therefore, it wouldn't be outlandish to assume Battlemage's successor, the Celestial lineup, could include a 24 GB VRAM SKU. One can only hope.
