With the official introduction of the next-generation Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series gaming GPUs mere days away, the gaming world is abuzz with excitement. We have a pretty good idea of what Nvidia has in store for us, courtesy of the plethora of information that has leaked in the past few months. A fresh leak has seemingly revealed the TDP values for the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 GPUs, and luckily for us, the numbers aren't as daunting as previously anticipated.
According to seasoned tipsters kopite7kimi and hongxing2020, the RTX 5090 gaming GPU will sport a 575-watt TDP, which is marginally lower than the previously rumored 600-watt figure, although a whopping 125 watts more than its predecessor. The RTX 5080, on the other hand, will sport a comparatively modest 360-watt TDP, which is around 40 watts more than its predecessor.
The TDP value for the GeForce RTX 5090 isn't all that surprising, considering that the monstrous GPU is expected to sport a whopping 21,760 CUDA cores - 33% more than the RTX 4090. The story is much the same with the RTX 5080, which is expected to sport around 10.5% more CUDA cores alongside a tolerable 40-watt TDP bump. Both the GPUs, as well as the rest of the RTX 50-lineup, are expected to be upgraded to GDDR7 memory, along with a 512-bit memory bus for the RTX 5090, and a 256-bit memory bus for the RTX 5080.
As mentioned previously, the RTX 50-series is expected to be announced by Nvidia sometime next week. For a summary of all that we have learned so far regarding the next-generation GeForce RTX GPUs, be sure to check out our comprehensive round-up.
